One of the most unique landmarks on the western plains of Wyoming is Devil's Tower. The Indian legend is about 7 girls who were chased by a bear. The plain raised up in answer to their prayers and the bear made the scores on the sides of the tower with his claws. These 7 girls were later taken into the sky and are seen today as stars, the Seven Sisters or the Pleides. It can be seen from quite a distance.
There were several folks climbing the tower when we were there.
The area surrounding the tower is a lovely peaceful open forest. There was a 1.5 mile trail that went all the way around Devil's Tower. It changed with every vista.
Finally as we were leaving the park, we met some of the local residents.
